What is self-directed learning anyway?
Self-directed learning is a little powerful engine that God has put into us to enable us to accomplish the plan we were created to walk in. It is the ability to learn in such a manner that it will bring a flow of increase into all areas of our lives.
For God
every human being is unique and precious. He does not have favorites,
and He certainly doesn't create failures. Therefore
every one of us
has the
built-in potential to live a blessed and purposeful life.
Yes! Before the foundation of the world God designed a perfect plan for your life and that of your children! He has given you all the tools you need to walk it out.
You were created to passionately pursue your purpose of being here on planet earth, to lead a fulfilled and abundantly blessed life, and to leave a legacy for the next generations!
The truth is that every human being is extremely creative in his or her very essence.
Each of us possesses an incredible learning potential that enables us to successfully exploit the extraordinary individual blend of gifts and talents we were created with.
Unfortunately, many of us have not known how to tap into this highly effective learning method.
Why?
Because a healthy education requires 3 basic elements that are not always present in the education we and our children are exposed to nowadays:
- Excellent mentors
- Access to adequate learning material
- The necessary freedom to passionately pursue our personal quest of excellence in the area of our choice
It shocks me to see so many people choose a lifestyle of "just going with the flow."
Instead, they could discover within themselves the very thing God put there beforehand. This would lead them to a purposeful life of success.

Who
Am I?
No, I am not an educational expert, and I don´t have a long list of credentials. I am a normal everyday mom. A person just like you. I discovered what real education was all about when I started to homeschool our 4 children years ago. It shocked me to find out that a healthy and productive learning process was so different to what I had received...and to what the vast majority of us is exposed to. I received an education that taught me how to learn a lot of facts, get good grades, go to college, be the best, get employed in a super job...and work for another's dream during the better part of my life. I was taught to learn what others determined was right for me, and to think the way others thought was correct. I did not know then that God Himself had already designed a perfect plan for me. That I, like every other human being, had unique gifts and talents I could develop to further God's kingdom, and that the freedom to exercise them was not beyond reach! I was fascinated by this discovery. It surprised me to find out how simple and easy God had designed the learning process to be like. As I walked in these truths, and applied them to our family, they made us free. They changed our lives forever! Today we are a happy bunch of six self-directed learners! Our four children are constantly engaged in, and thoroughly enjoying, different areas of interest. What is especially amusing to watch is that they don't have a predetermined learning schedule. Learning has become a lifestyle for them, because it's fun to delve deeply into a subject you are passionate about! Best of all, they are confident to tackle any subject they commit to teach themselves, because they have come to master the tool of self-directed learning! Their whole life has turned into a never-ending learning process that is preparing them, in a very natural and effortless way, to have the entrepreneurial skills, character and leadership traits, and the necessary knowledge and skills to be successful in their lives, and to be a force for good on this earth. |
